Heroic youth in 1899 stood up to publishing giants Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst in a David-and-Goliath battle that turned into the largest youth-led strike in history. Inspired by this gripping story, the Disney team created an explosive musical, 鈥淣ewsies,鈥� that won multiple Tony nominations and awards.

Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company is presenting this high-powered Broadway show on weekends from May 5-14 at the Carson City Community Center.

The musical is the rousing tale of a band of teenage "newsies" who sell newspapers in the turn-of-the-century and are impacted by publishers' raising distribution prices at the newsboys鈥� expense. Newsies rally from across the city to fight for their rights. Inspired by a true story, 鈥淣ewsies鈥� features a Tony Award-winning score, including 鈥淐arrying the Banner,鈥� 鈥淪eize the Day,鈥� and 鈥淪anta Fe.鈥� 

"The explosive dance spectacular is packed with non-stop thrills, perfect for the whole family," said 精东影业视频 Professor of Music Stephanie Arrigotti, who directs and produces the show.
